Good First Impressions

After a few days of letting the stallion settle in and getting to know him, Jackie decided it was time to see what he could do. All Angie had told her was that he was six years old and had some training on him already, but she didn't go into specifics. Apparently he could jump and knew some basic dressage, and from what she could tell, he was quite calm for a stallion, but she really wouldn't know what he was like until she got on. Jackie figured it was best to just take him around the arena on the flat and get a feel for him, leave the jumping for another day, so she found a dressage saddle that fit the beast and tacked up.
At first, Bear felt quite hot, trotting around with his head high and flaring his nostrils, looking around and taking in his surroundings. However, after a few minutes of warming up, he relaxed and took the bit like an old pro. Jackie was surprised at how supple and soft the large warmblood was, it was as if there was no horse beneath her at all, he felt light as a cloud. But at the same time, she could feel the amount of power he had to offer, this was a big, thick horse and he was strong. Thank God someone had given him a good foundation, this was not a horse she wanted pulling her around a jumper course. She quietly asked for the canter and he picked up without any fuss, only swishing his tail. He was already so in tune and sensitive, Jackie couldn't wait until they really started to work together, he was going to be an absolute dream to take to competitions! 
"Thank you, Angie," she whispered as she continued to admire her horse's smooth movements. She had the best friends in the world, there was doubt about it.
